The name is fitting because it's simple; the images are giving off a silent alarm that only Ashley seems to hear. I know this because I've been with her when something catches her eye and been completely flabbergasted, yet not surprised at all, when it turns out to be a genius image. That juxtaposition carries over into Ashley's captures; the photos range from flashy kitsch (the blurry red heart reminiscent of a love tunnel carnival ride), to observant (anti-war street graffiti or icicle-laden plants), to candid (the lone musician having a private moment in an alley behind a club), and unexpected (the couple persuaded to don rabbit masks for their engagement pictures). Any number of these images would be appropriate to hang on a wall in my house, or yours and while the prints are not yet available for purchase, please head over to silent-alarm.com and be amazed.

In Ashley's own words, "We'll meet on the streets."
Silent-Alarm.com

Thanksgiving

This conversation happened between my husband and I a few weeks ago and I forgot to share it with you:

HUSBAND: I have a show in California on November 25. We kept him in our prayers and hoped for good news. Alas, good news was not in the cards. It's always sad to hear of a unfortunate medical diagnosis but when one hits so close to home, it's devastating. My husband is a friend of Randy's and I've grown to love the band over the past few years. As the wife of a touring musician I can only imagine how this is rocking his family's world. I immediately start to think about how this would shock my family were it my husband. I am pushing those thoughts out. They are not important now.

I do not need to understand why God let this happen. I sit here with tears welling up in my eyes, praying that God will heal him and allow him to spend many more years with his wife and children, and making awesome music...yet I can't help thinking negatively. And I've seen God perform a miracle in a similar situation earlier this year!! I know it's possible! I DO know that God is in control and has great things in store for all of us. Right now He is smiling at the outpouring of love for Randy and his family.

I apologize for the bumbling, melodramatic honesty in this post. I'm sad and worried and trying to pray with as much hope as possible. Please keep Randy, his wife and children, and The Myriad in your prayers. Thank you.

Our friend, Randy Miller, from The Myriad, needs your help...

Friends and family,

As some of you may have heard, our band mate Randy Miller had a tumor removed from his upper torso near his shoulder on Friday. Initial analysis has come back that the tumor is cancerous. The specific type is still being determined and we will keep you all informed as we know more. We ask for your support and prayers for Randy, his wife Kristyn, and children Connor and Gillian during this time.

There are immediate and ongoing financial needs for the Miller family. For this reason, a fund has been set up through The Stirring, a non-profit organization in Redding, CA. There are a few different ways you can send tax deductible donations to the family.
One is online at www. thestirring. org.
Located to the bottom right of the main page you will see "ONLINE GIVING". If you click on this link you will be directed to a secure page where you can set up an online giving account. Once the account is set up you will see the "RANDY MILLER FUND" and be able to send secure, tax deductible donations to the family through this organization.
Tax deductible donations can also be sent in the form of a check to:

The Stirring
RE: Randy Miller
3468 Bechelli Lane Suite E
Redding, CA 96002

Please specify "Randy Miller Fund" in the check memo. Any financial support you can give in order to help the Miller's through this difficult time is appreciated.

Thanks for your prayers,
The Myriad

Frequent Jealousies

This is a frequent happening for me. My husband is someplace I’d love to be or visit. Right now. This week finds him in southern California visiting our families. I love, love California and miss my family intensely. Not to mention the amazing beaches and wonderful weather they’re having right now. Ugh. I’m rainy Nashville, suffering from debate-hangover, and could really use a sunny, sandy vacation.

Husband is often in places I would like to visit. He’s been to every state, including Alaska and Hawaii, so right off the bat, I’m jealous. Then he gets to spend some of their off days in NYC, LA, Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas, Austin, Las Vegas, etc. and I wish I were there!

I know my husband appreciates having a wife who’s stable enough to hold down the fort while he’s away but sometimes I just want to up and go!
