You Might Be a Christian Rock Star If...

Author-speaker-humorist Matthew Paul Turner has a blog that I enjoy reading from time to time. His post, "You Might Be a Christian Rock Star If..." is thoroughly hilarious.

"We'll meet on the streets."

Silent-Alarm is the name-appropriate for Ashley Nothum's photography/street art side project extraordinaire. The name is fitting because it's simple; the images are giving off a silent alarm that only Ashley seems to hear. I know this because I've been with her when something catches her eye and been completely flabbergasted, yet not surprised at all, when it turns out to be a genius image. That juxtaposition carries over into Ashley's captures; the photos range from flashy kitsch (the blurry red heart reminiscent of a love tunnel carnival ride), to observant (anti-war street graffiti or icicle-laden plants), to candid (the lone musician having a private moment in an alley behind a club), and unexpected (the couple persuaded to don rabbit masks for their engagement pictures). Any number of these images would be appropriate to hang on a wall in my house, or yours and while the prints are not yet available for purchase, please head over to silent-alarm.com and be amazed.

In Ashley's own words, "We'll meet on the streets."

Thanksgiving

This conversation happened between my husband and I a few weeks ago and I forgot to share it with you:

HUSBAND: I have a show in California on November 25. Maybe I'll just stay out there and have Thanksgiving with my family...
ME: Did you forget my parents, brother and grampa are coming to town?
HUSBAND: Oh...(I can see the wheels starting to turn in his head)
ME: Yes, you need to be there.
HUSBAND: Okay.
